Data migration

User data (mail messages and attachments) are maintained in Zimbra servers for reference, in one year, from August 2018. You can access your old mailbox as usual (by visiting http://mail.tdt.edu.vn).

However, you can also migrate your data from Zimbra server to Google Workspace so that it is always available for your need. You can do that using one of the following methods:

  • Use mail client software on your PC: apply for student and staff users, particularly for those who are currently using mail clients (Outlook, Thunderbird, ...) to access email.
    • Pros: you can do it by yourself; all of your data on Zimbra server can be migrated; folder structure is reserved.
    • Cons: you need a computer with Internet access running throughout the migration process, which may take from some hours to a couple of days.
  • Use Account import feature of Google Workspace: apply for student and staff users.
    • Pros: you can do it by yourself only one time; no need for a dedicated PC with Internet access.
    • Cons: folder structure is not reserved; only incoming emails are imported to Google Workspace and marked as unread, emails in other folders are not fetch.
  • Use Data Migration Service: apply for staff users only.
    • Pros: no need for a dedicated PC with Internet access; folder structure is reserved.
    • Cons: maximum of 6 month data is migrated.

Note:

  1. If you implement a data migration, by any methods, your data is still maintained at Zimbra server
  2. Mails with greater than 25MB or virus infected attachments are excluded
  3. Some normal emails may be marked as spam and move to Spam mail folder at Google Workspace. Look at Spam mail folder to take them out.
